ThoroughCare has developed a new feature to allow it's AWV product users to record additional information regarding the patient's opioid and substance use within the Heath Risk Assessment (HRA). Continue through this article to learn about these new questions, so you are equipped the next time you are completing an AWV with a patient!

Navigate to the Patients History of Tobacco Section:

Once inpatient's AWV assessment, Click on the "History of Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Use" section as shown in the screenshot below. This is where the new questions will be.

Note: Expect there to be 6 new questions at the end of the "History of Alcohol" AWV assessment section.

When the "History of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drug Use" section appears, the first question should look similar to what is displayed in the below screenshot. A user will have to continue through the first 6 questions within this section until they are presented with the "Opioid" questions.

Once the user reaches first question in the "Opioid" question set, it will ask the patient "Do you take any opioid medications?". Select "Yes" or "No", then click the "Next Question" button to move to the next question.

Note: If "No" is selected for the first opioid question, the next few questions in this new question section will be skipped. For this example, we are making sure to select "Yes".

If "Yes" is selected in the previous question, users should receive the following question as shown below. Have the patient answer "What opioid medication(s) are you currently on", and record their answer within the provided text box. Once finished, click the "Next Question" button.

The next question should ask the patient "Do you have any personal history of any of the following". Click to select any answers that may apply, then select the "Next Question" button in the bottom right hand corner of the assessment.

The following question will ask if the patient has any "Family History of Abuse". Just as before, click to select any of the patient's answers. To move on, click the "Next Question" button.

The second to the last question will ask "Do you have any history of taking opioids/other pain and/or anxiety medications for longer than 3 months, including your childhood". Select one of the possible answers, then click "Next Question".

The last question should read "Are you unable or refusing to answer, or is the provider unable to answer one or more of the above questions", click to select the answer that applies.

Note: Once you move on from this question the normal questions from the "History of Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Use" section will appear, so you will be able to continue through the rest of the patient's AWV assessment as usual.
