Updating an Existing Barrier

To manage barriers for a patient, select the Barriers tab from the patient chart and then select the barrier you would like to manage with your patient.

You can filter the Barriers list by Problem and/or Barrier Status or add a new barrier by selecting the + icon in the top right corner of the Barriers tab.

The Barriers tab will list all barriers assigned to your patient. Each barrier will be listed on this tab with the Problem it is assigned to and the Barrier Status.

Select the barrier you would like to update with your patient. The barriers list now moves to the left side of the Barriers tab and the selected barrier is now open for you to update.

Underneath the barrier title, you'll see the problem that the barrier is associated to.

The following fields will appear for the selected barrier: Problem, Status, Date, Notes, Previous Updates. Select a Status from the dropdown box.

Today's date will default in the Date box and can be updated by clicking on the date.

Add your Barrier Notes.

Once the barrier is updated, click Save in the bottom right corner. You will now see your barrier update appear in the Previous Updates box with date stamp and user name.

NOTE: Users can edit their own notes using the addendum button next to the 'Previous Updated' sub-header or admins may edit any notes by users within their practice.

Adding a New Barrier

You may add additional barriers at any time by clicking the + icon in the upper right corner of the Barriers tab.

An Add Barrier modal will appear to document the new barrier with your patient.

To add a barrier to the Barrier dropdown menu, simply click inside the menu box and select the patient’s barrier.

If your selection is not listed in the dropdown, begin typing your barrier; a list of pre-populated, standard best practice responses will display for you to choose from.

Select a Barrier Status (In Progress, Resolved, Closed, or Closed: Import Error).

Assign to Current Problem (the patient's current problems will be listed in the dropdown for you to select).

Once the new barrier is complete, select Save in the bottom right corner.

The new barrier will now be listed on the Barriers tab with the selected Barrier Status and Assigned Problem.
