ThoroughCare has introduced the ability to push patient vitals obtained via RPM to Athena. This is a practice option that must be turned on by a member of ThoroughCare support. If your practice wishes to enable this option, please reach out to ThoroughCare support for assistance.

RPM Vitals Display in Athena

Once the practice option has been enabled, your patient's RPM vitals should begin populating within the EHR. Please note that only data recorded by patient devices will be pushed to the EHR, and manual entries will not be available in the EHR. The vitals that ThoroughCare currently supports sending are pulse, o2 saturation, temperature, height, weight, BMI, and blood pressure.

For example, if you have a patient in ThoroughCare who has a registered blood pressure monitor and they take their blood pressure, you will see the reading in ThoroughCare as usual. After the reading is received in ThoroughCare, the data will be pushed to Athena. Log into Athena and navigate to the patient who recorded the vital. After landing on their chart, select the "Vitals" tile on the left-hand panel to expand their vitals. You should see the same reading on the patient chart.

You will be able to tell that the reading came from ThoroughCare because the "user" who added the reading will be "ThoroughCare, Inc. - tcprod - ThoroughCare CCM (MDP Partner)".

Troubleshooting

If the option to push patient vitals has been turned on from the ThoroughCare side and you are still experiencing issues getting the data into AthenaHealth, there may be some additional configuration that must be completed within the EHR. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the issue.

First, log into Athena and select the settings dropdown from the navigation bar at the top of the screen. Under Admin, select "Clinicals".

In the left-hand column that appears, select "Vitals" under History/Intake. The "Configure Vitals" screen will appear.

Under "Select Specialties", select any number of specialties for which you'd like the patient vitals to be pushed. When the specialties are selected, they will appear in the "Selected" column. After you have selected all of your desired specialties, select "Display Selected Specialties".

All specialties selected will now appear below the button along with their respective lists of vitals. Select the vitals that you wish to have pushed to Athena and save. Please note that ThoroughCare currently supports sending pulse, o2 saturation, temperature, height, weight, BMI, and blood pressure.
