This article will cover in detail how to set up a patient's Validic device that is supported by their Vital Snap application. If you are looking for a guide on how to add a Validic device that is supported by Cloud, check out the the "Viewing Patient Assigned Devices" section of our Guide to Using the Patient Portal article.

Navigate to the Patient's View Page

Search for the target patient by using the search bar at the top of your ThoroughCare dashboard. Enter patient's First Name, Last Name, or EHR ID.

Once the search page loads, click the patient's Name or EHR ID.

Adding a Validic Vital Snap supported device

Navigate to the patient's "Devices" tab.

Next to the "Provider Registered Devices" table title, select "Add a Device":

This will bring up an "Add a New Device" pop-up. Notice there are two fields offered in order to add a device.

Note: Adding a Validic Vital Snap does not require a "Device ID", instead, once selected, the Device ID section will become a dropdown of devices that Vital Snap supports.

Click the "Device Type" drop-down. Select the "Vital Snap" option from the list of devices that are shown.

Once the "Device Type" is selected, click on the Device ID dropdown. Here you will find the different devices that ThoroughCare currently supports with Vital Snap. For this example we will be using the Nipro - TRUEresult, but user's should select whatever device is appropriate for them as it will not change the workflow.

Once selected, click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the pop-up.

Once added, users should see the newly added device in the table under "Provider Registered Devices:" and the new enabled measurement linked to the device in the "Enabled Measurements:" table.

Capturing Readings Using Vital Snap

For a patient to be able to capture readings on their device and link them to ThoroughCare, the patient will need to have access to the ThoroughCare patient portal, specifically the mobile app. If the patient does not have portal access, check out our Guide to Using the Patient Portal article that outlines the steps to get the patient set up. Once set up return to this point and continue.

Now that the patient has a Vital Snap device added to their profile, have them log into their myCareTC app. They should be met with the home screen that looks like this.

Once here select the Monitor My Vitals section.

This will take the user to a page where they can see all of the devices they use to monitor their vitals. Select the device that the patient needs to use. For this example it will be the "Nipro - TRUEresult" we added earlier.

Once the device is selected, the user's phone will ask for permission to use the camera. Select allow and you will be presented with your camera with an outline that looks something like this.

Note: For the device used in this article, the outline looks like the picture, but yours may look different depending on the device.

Follow the instructions that are in the center of the screen. Once the reading is complete, you should see the reading in the bottom portion of your screen where reading type is listed. If the reading looks correct, then press the complete button. Once done the reading will be sent to ThoroughCare!
